Why ALL the COVID-19 Test data is Overstated. In a BIG way!

I had a debate with a friend about virus in Virginia.

Him: “Virginia had 800 new cases!”

Me: “No. You’re overstating the numbers by 400%”

😐

He was upset. I walked him through a little journey into Fairfax County!

Fairfax County, one of the wealthiest counties in the country. A dense populace in the DC area. (Fairfax is home to A LOT of people who work in DC).

Note: I lived in Loudoun County for 15 years. Loudoun is THE RICHEST county in the country.
(There’s something abt DC right?)

So, per usual, we ended talking about dates.

It matters because ALL of the milestones to get to Phase 1 and Phase 2 are about TRENDS. But if you’re looking at the wrong data and wrong dates your state might not look all that hot.

Truth bomb: All the dates you see are wrong.

The numbers we see on all the pretty dashboards may be overstating the CURRENT impact of the virus by 400%!

We did deaths this AM — let’s do tests!

A LOT of dates for each test:
- Date specimen collected
- Date processed
- Date diagnosis given
> Date result reported <
