There also seems to be in incongruity with the stats page which lists the fans as a differentiated user who claps for your piece I believe. There’s a lot of new nomenclature. I think there are some excellent experiments involved here and let’s see what a bears out.

My initial estimation tells me that a person would need to get about 1000 claps a month to receive $50 in compensation (an average reader might clap for a piece 50 times a month — thus, 5 cents per clap). I could be totally wrong on that math and I hope I am but let’s see where this goes.
