Medium: As a Trump Supporter… Why Should I Keep Posting Here?

As a conservative and Trump supporter… why should I continue to post here on Medium?

The echo chamber is a phemenon well established on the Left and the Right. People on the Right have the Drudge Report, FoxNews, and a host of other websites… People on the Left have the Huffington Post, MSNBC, NYTimes, CNN, the Washington Post, ABC, NBC, CBS, and… Medium?

Looking over the Editorial Picks at any given hour will give you a diatribe of anti-Trump / anti-Right fodder. Here’s what I see this morning:

I know there are plenty of conservative-leaning posts written here on Medium. I write plenty. I know there are PLENTY of articulate thinking readers and writers on the right that Medium could go after…

… but why should I continue posting here when preaching to the Che Guevera choir is the only attention-getting mantra here? I thought people on the Left liked diversity?

Reading the anti-Trump diatribes (one yesterday about his ominous trenchcoat)… you’d think a handful of gun-wielding extremists had launched a coup and taken over the Presidency… (also, both houses of congress, 68 out of 98 state legislatures, 31 of 50 state governorships).

Last I checked there was a free and fair election last November. Also, many, many elections before that on a national and state level.

The Democratic party now has executive and legislative majorities in only 4 states. Over Obama’s 8 years Democrats lost 1,042 federal and state seats to Republicans. “Hyper-rationalism” can only expain so much when you lose successive election over election for the past 10 years.

The hyperbole brigade of science-defending resistance librarians is becoming a joke now. But maybe posts from people on the Right don’t get attention because they have no arguments. You’d be sadly mistaken.

A few examples of how the Right actually DOES have a leg to stand on:

“But… but… Russians”

Please. We’ve answered this for the umpteenth time. If you combine the 3 key battleground states: PA, WI and MI Donald Trump brought in 455,307 more votes that Romney. Hillary Clinton on the other hand (wait for it) received nearly 600,000 fewer votes than Obama in 2012. Does Russian influence account for all of that?

2016 votes key states and comparisons to 2012 votes for Romney v. Obama

“But… but… all of the bullies in the Administration! Pruitt to the EPA”

I follow the EPA closely because I have friends in flyover states whose jobs have been savaged by regulations and the EPA. There are many, many, many good reasons to see a serious correction there and in other agencies. Take this picture as an example:

Millions of gallons of toxic waste stream from from a breach created by EPA engineers in Colorado.

“But… but… xenophobia… Republicans hate Muslims”

That’s insulting. What we do hate is turning a blind eye to one of the seminal issue of the last 15+ years: extremist Islamists hate Western liberal democracies and they happen to be the fastest growing demographic in the world. That means something.

I have a nice picture I produced showing the reality of what has happened since 9/11. The short version is that there have been 196 attacks planned, executed or thwarted here in the United States since 9/11. Almost all of the terrorists have foreign elements associated with them. Why wouldn’t we see this as an issue? I can move my family to a better part of town to avoid violence and crime areas… I can’t do that with terrorism. (One of my neighbors in suburban Virginia was hoping to blow up the Metro).

So… why should I continue to write here on Medium?

I love the platform. I was a Blogger user for over a decade and I enjoy the venue given here… but the tone, mode and adulation given to the massive trove of anti-Right / anti-Trump posts here gives me pause.

I’m not worried about my message getting out… I have many, many outlets to do that… and I mostly write about technology and sales. But I worry about the viability of Medium which will continue to turn away thousands of conservatives as they see the slant leftward. Most businesses realize that echo-chambers confine your customer-base.

My own political intuition and “strategery” thinks I should just let this be. After all, the continual avoidance of voices on the Right is what lead to the election of Donald Trump. Maybe you deserve another 4 years of Trump?

… oh … one more issue for good measure here:

“But… but… Trump’s cries of #FakeNews are Fake!”

Really? I have a few examples where news organizations created headlines out of nothing or got something wrong so badly before correcting and being retweeted thousands of times:
